Redistricting Brings Changes PDF Print E-mail

The boundary changes for House District 53A resulting from the 2010 census have been completed.  We have been redesignated as new House District 38A.

The new map, drawn by a panel of judges, puts the entire city of Lino Lakes in the same House District. Also added is Centerville and the north portion of Hugo and all of Blaine east of Lexington Avenue and north of 35W. This unites us as a community of interest around the northern Lakes Area.

All Shoreview precincts have been moved to the new House District 42A.  North Oaks Precinct 1 moves to House District 38B.

All delegates and alternates selected in their original precinct caucuses will attend the New District Convention held at Central Middle School in White Bear on Saturday, March 31st.  More details and a Convention Call (invitation) will be sent by the state party to your mailing address.

2012 Precinct Caucus PDF Print E-mail

The precinct caucus is held in even-numbered years. It is a meeting of neighbors living in a certain area, or precinct, that support a particular party and get together to decide the direction of that party.

All caucus precinct meetings for HD53A Republicans will be Tuesday, February 7th, starting at 7 p.m.  They will be held at the Centennial Middle School, 399 Elm Street in Lino Lakes. See map.  Know your precinct to help find the meeting room at the school.

The caucus is the very start of the political process and you will be helping to select the candidates that our party selects to run for office in the next election.

Okay great....but what do I do when I get there?

COME EARLY.  When you show up you'll be asked to register..  By registering, you state your general intent to support the Republican party in the upcoming election and that you agree with the principles set forth by the party.  From this point you can be as active a participant as you want.

You will also have the opportunity to present issues important to you that you would like to see the party address in its platform. You may first want to read the platform to see if your issue or proposal is already incorporated in it.

Read Party Platform

After going through the platform if there are important issues that you'd like to present as resolutions to be included, consider drafting them now.  Doing this in advance of the caucus will give you plenty of time to research and write your resolution and to ensure it is not already covered in the platform.

Election Results: Senate and State House Victories PDF Print E-mail

Candidate Linda Runbeck is now Representative-elect Runbeck after defeating two term DFL incumbent Paul Gardner. Linda returns to St. Paul with 56.3% of the votes in House District 53A..
In Senate District 53 Roger Chamberlain was elected with 52% of the ballots cast over DFL incumbent Sandy Rummel in his first run for public office.

We are now represented by a pair of solid conservatives. They will advocate for those of us who believe fiscal restraint, lower taxes and fewer regulations will encourage business to prosper in our district and state. Thanks to all the workers in both campaigns who tirelessly made phone calls, raised funds, door knocked, marched in parades, and then showed up in the voting booth to elect folks who will make a difference.
